The Master’s degree course in Astronomy and Astrophysics lasts two years, during which the student acquires 120 credits.
There is no programmed number. Admission takes place through a verification of curricular requirements and personal preparation.
The educational objectives of the Master's Degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics are dictated by the class to which they belong (LM-58, Sciences of the Universe).
Graduates of this course are characterized by the achievement of the following educational objectives:
- a sure control of the scientific method of investigation, based on a solid basic culture in classical and modern physics and a depth knowledge and experience of using mathematical methodologies and IT support tools
- excellent knowledge of modern astronomy and astrophysics, with extensive scientific, operational, observational and theoretical skills, in the topics characterizing the Class
- advanced expertise in modern instruments and observational techniques, in the related data collection and analysis procedures and model processing.
It allows access to research PhD, third-level Masters, and technical and managerial roles in the Public Administration and in the private sector.
In particular, someone with a Master degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics can perform the role of laboratory technician, scientific programmer, data analyst, software developer for scientific and industrial applications, commercial technician for customer assistance (for example in the case of manufacturers of instrumentation). Using his/her mathematical and technical interdisciplinary skills, a graduated student in Astronomy and Astrophysics can successfully interact with other professional figures such as engineers, managers and information technology specialists.
