Nano-spectroscopy

Descrizione Descrizione

In the Nano-spectroscopy lab, we are interested in optical spectroscopy (absorption, photoluminescence, PL, and Raman) on nanostructures with different dimensionalities, with special focus on semiconductor nanowires, quantum dots, and 2D materials like transition metal dichalcogenides and graphene. Besides conventional optical microscopes, which provide a diffraction-limited spatial resolution of about half a micron, we will also employ innovative scanning near field optical microscopes (SNOM), providing a resolution < 100 nm. By combining this special microscope with advanced cryogenic optical setups, we can perform low-temperature PL-SNOM, scattering-SNOM and tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, truly having access to nanoscale materials' optical, electronic and phononic properties. Moreover, the presence of single photon detectors allows to realize low-noise quantum optics experiments in the context of photonic quantum technologies based on single photon sources.
