Resonant Conversion of Wave Dark Matter in the Ionosphere

Resonant Conversion of Wave Dark Matter in the Ionosphere
Italiano

Mysterious dark matter could slosh over our planet like a wave. If it does, it may produce telltale radio waves in Earth's atmosphere, which could be detected by an electrically small dipole antenna. This new idea may be orders of magnitude more sensitive to dark photon and axionlike particle dark matter in the relevant mass range. This Letter opens up a promising way of testing hitherto unexplored parameter space that could be further improved with a dedicated instrument.
